Quicko
Q&A app with maps and gamification

📅 Timeline
Q1 2022 – Q2 2022
✏️ Role
Student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków
💡 Goal
Design a product that will make certain process easier
Background
This project was developed during my studies in collaboration with an international Erasmus+ team. In 2022, as Poland welcomed many refugees from the war in Ukraine, we examined the experience of arriving in a new city and trying to adapt.
We drew inspiration from our teammates’ stories — celleagues from Bosnia and Herzegovina and from the Czech Republic — who, much like refugees, faced the challenge of settling into a new environment and accessing essential information.
Challenge
Existing tools did not provide a simple, interactive way to connect questions, maps, and community knowledge. Our goal was to design a solution that could support newcomers. Whether migrants, students, or tourists — by helping them adapt faster and navigate everyday life more easily.
Process
- Research & benchmarking – analyzed existing apps (Google Maps, Quora,TripAdvisor, Kahoot!) and identified gaps.
- User story mapping – mapped user flows for asking questions, answering, voting, and earning rewards.
- Wireframes & prototype – designed low-fi sketches, flows, and high-fidelity screens built on simplicity and familiar patterns.
- Usability testing – 3 tasks (asking a question, answering, buying an avatar).

Solution
Quicko combines maps with community-driven Q&A, adds a points-and-rewards system, and uses a simple, intuitive interface that lowers the entry barrier for new users.

❓Ask Questions
Wondering how to get to the nearest bus stop? Looking for the best burger in town, or where to buy a SIM card? Get quick tips from people around you.
🤝 Help others
Share your knowledge and experience. Become a local guide, earn points and rewards by answering questions and helping other users.
🗺️ Search neighbourhood
Maybe someone nearby has already asked the same question you have. Or perhaps you know the area so well that your answer could make someone’s day easier.
🏆 Earn Points
Earn points for answers marked as helpful. Join the fun of gamification — unlock new avatars, grab a coffee coupon, or simply enjoy the satisfaction of helping others.
Outcome
This student project was a valuable experience that helped us grow as designers. We had to work closely as a team, combining our different perspectives and skills to deliver a coherent result. Each of us was responsible for a specific part, and I additionally took on the role of integrating all contributions into a unified whole. The outcome was presented as a pitch deck to faculty representatives and received strong appreciation, especially for addressing socially important issues.
